Is War About To Start Again On The Korean Peninsula?

Early today South Korea and the United States started military exercises in the Yellow Sea early today, and so far except a statement from North Korea saying that the military exercises that have started today is "no more than an attempt to find ignite a war at any cost".  They also warned of unpredictable consequences if the Aircraft Carrier USS George Washington  arrives in the yellow sea, (which it has by the way).

Senator John McCain, R-Arizona made a statement that I agree with, I won't quote it here but basically he puts the blame on all the past administrations both republican and democrat for carrying on a policy off bribery, and for the most part just putting up with them, especially in the past 15 years. In those 15 years we have given North Korea 1 billion dollars trying to bribe them into "being good", and as we can see that doesn't work to well.

Normally the governments of the US and South Korea try and down play any incidents with the North, however even though the Obama administration is keeping a low tone on what is happening the South Korean government is currently urging all journalists to leave the Yeonpyeong Island, which they have rarely done in the past wanting to have immediate press coverage of the North's actions. That in itself is a bit unsettling because that means to me that South Korea's President Lee Myung-bak is taking this latest action quite serious.

On Yeonpyeong island 124 more people were removed from the island under a new mandatory evacuation, everyone leaving before today did so voluntarily, but requiring everyone to leave is just another sign by the South Korean government this is one of the most serious situations since the cease fire of June 27, 1953. Everyone must remember the war is not officially over and has been balanced on that fragile cease fire agreement.

I will keep watching the news today, and will do more updates as required plus I want to look at the history of the conflict and the people currently involved at this time.
